Firefox 2 und Firefox 3 gleichzeitig auf dem Computer

Nachdem eigentlich der neue Firefox 3 Browser die Version 2 abgelöst hat, sind doch noch viele User mit dem Firefox 2 unterwegs. Und die Unterschiede bei der Entwicklung von HTML Webseiten mit CSS sind doch grösser als gedacht.

Normalerweise kann man nicht 2 Firefox Versionen auf ein und dem selben Rechner benutzen, ausser, man installiert sich die Portable Version des Firefox. Und noch eine gute Nachricht: Es gibt beide Firefox Versionen als Portable Version. Also egal welchen Firefox du gerade installiert hast, installiere einfach die andere Portable Version dazu.

Hier findest Du beide Firefox Browser die Du zur gleichzeitigen Nutzung auf Deinem Computer installieren kannst::

Wechsle anschließend in das Installationsverzeichnis, dann in “other” und in “source” und kopiere die Datei “FirefoxPortable.ini” direkt in das Installationsverzeichnis wo auch die “FirefoxPortable.exe” liegt. Ändere in der ini Datei den Eintrag “AllowMultipleInstances=false” auf “AllowMultipleInstances=true“, damit du beide Firefox Browser nebeneinander öffnen kannst.

Wer übrigens mit einem Mac unterwegs ist, kann sich den Firefox Chooser installieren und braucht nicht alles von Hand machen. Einfach mal diesen Blog dazu lesen:More than One Firefox (Beta) 2.0 to rule them all - a Dave Martorana concoction
